Electricial Safety Certificates in Hull & East Yorkshire

New legislation coming into force on 1st July 2020 denotes that all new private tenancies in England will need to ensure that electrical installations are inspected and tested by a qualified person before the new tenancy begins. Landlords will then need to ensure the installation is inspected and tested at least every five years, and more often if the most recent safety report requires it. The first test must be carried out before any new tenancy can commence on or after 1st July 2020 and by 1st April 2021 for any existing tenancies.

The minimum standards for the domestic electrical installations must comply with the 18th Edition of the wiring regulations BS 7671:2019.

An electrical installation covers a broad range of types and sizes of installations; from a complete new factory to an additional socket in Mr Smith’s bedroom.

For an additional socket or light fitting you should receive a Minor Works Certificate.

For a new circuit such as shower, cooker or even just additional socket but on it’s own circuit, you require a Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate and an additional certificate detailing the works compliance has been registered with your local building control.

This should be a Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report (DEICR), this details the condition of the installation and indicates whether compliance is achieved or not.
